Datan Wetland Introduction
Datan Wetland Ecological Park is located to the northeast of Dapeng Bay, adjacent to Provincial Highway 17, at the southern edge of the Datan community. This area has a relatively low elevation and is prone to flooding, so it has been planned as an ecological flood retention basin combined with a constructed wetland treatment system. During the rainy season, it can function as a flood retention area, and in the non-rainy season, it can treat domestic sewage, aquaculture wastewater, and non-point source pollution from Provincial Highway 17, as well as some domestic sewage from Dapeng Li. The wetland park covers an area of 6 hectares and includes an inlet on the east and west sides, sedimentation ponds, subsurface flow filtration pools (with filter media made of waste bricks, concrete blocks, gravel, and oyster shells), a grassland area, shallow water area, ecological island area, deep water area, and an outlet. Based on the type of artificial wetland for heavy rainfall runoff, the Datan wetland falls between the extended retention type and bag-type. The wetland is home to various bird species, including Black-winged Stilts, Little Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Greater Painted Snipes, and the Eastern Yellow Wagtail.
