Chuguang Visitor Center Introduction
The former name of Juqing Township in Matsu was Baiken, derived from the Fuzhou dialect where "ken" sounds like "dog," also leading to the nickname "White Dog." The two islands have a mountain shape resembling two small dogs lying on the sea, which is why the eastern island is called Dongken Island and the western island is called Xiken Island. In 1971, it was renamed Juqing Township, symbolizing "do not forget in Ju." The eastern and western islands were then renamed Dongju and Xiju, respectively. The Juqing Visitor Center is located next to the Fuzheng settlement on Dongju Island. The exterior of the visitor center, designed in a style resembling architecture from Eastern Fujian, seamlessly integrates with the surrounding lighthouse and stone houses, making it a uniquely characteristic building with a resort-like atmosphere. With views of the sea and mountains, resting at the visitor center while reading travel materials becomes an enjoyable experience. Inside the visitor center, visitors can watch introduction videos and obtain information on activities. There is also a Fuzheng Blue Tears Station nearby, where tourists can rest and taste local specialties such as clams and red yeast chicken dishes. If you have the chance to visit Juqing, don't miss this stop!
