Lin'ao Islet Introduction
The southernmost point of the Matsu Islands can be seen from the Dapu settlement, looking southward at a solitary island known as Lin'ao Islet. It is one of the three small islands surrounding Dongju Island and the southernmost point of the Matsu Islands. Unlike Xiniou Islet to the north, which forms a tidal flat connecting to Dongju Island during low tide, Lin'ao Islet year-round stands across from Dongju Island and cannot be directly connected to it. Lin'ao Islet features various uniquely-shaped rocks and is rich in plant ecology resources. According to surveys conducted by botanical experts, the island's perennial beach vitex has significant ornamental value. Additionally, the island is dotted with strange rock formations that are steeped in mythological tales. Currently, access to the island is not permitted, and only a few anglers visit Lin'ao Islet for fishing, making it one of the main fishing spots near Dongju Island and a competitive location for fishing enthusiasts. Due to Lin'ao Islet's unique geology and abundant plant ecology, it was designated as a county-level natural landscape in 2018 and is one of the ten designated areas of the Matsu Geological Park.
