Linau Islet Introduction
The southernmost point of the Matsu Islands. Looking south from the Dapu settlement, there is a solitary island named "Lin'ao Islet" not far from the sea surface, which is one of the three small islands surrounding Dongju Island and is the southernmost point of the Matsu Islands. Unlike the intertidal zone that connects to Dongju Island during low tide at Xiniu Islet to the north, Lin'ao Islet has a distant view of Dongju Island all year round and cannot be directly connected to it. Lin'ao Islet is home to various uniquely shaped rocks and a rich ecological resource of plants. According to surveys by botanical experts, the perennial beach grape on the island has high ornamental value. Additionally, the island features numerous unusual rocks, rich in mythical stories and legends. Currently, access to the island is not permitted, but a few anglers visit Lin'ao Islet for fishing, making it one of the primary fishing spots of Dongju Island and a contested area among anglers. Due to the unique geology of Lin'ao Islet and its rich plant ecology, it was designated as a county-level natural landscape in 2018 and is one of the ten regions of the Matsu Geopark.
