Lin'ao Islet Introduction
The southernmost point of the Matsu Islands is Lin'ao Islet, located just south of Dapu Settlement. When viewed from this settlement, Lin'ao Islet is a solitary island not far from the sea and is one of three small islands surrounding Dongju Island; it is also the southernmost point of the Matsu Islands. Unlike Xiniuy Island to the north, which connects to Dongju Island via a tidal flat during low tide, Lin'ao Islet has always remained distant from Dongju Island and cannot be directly linked to it. Lin'ao Islet is home to various uniquely shaped rocks and a rich array of plant ecological resources. According to investigations by plant experts, the perennial beach caltrops on the island hold significant ornamental value. Furthermore, the island is dotted with peculiar rocks, rich in myth and legend. Currently, the islet is not open to the public; only a few fishing enthusiasts visit Lin'ao Islet for fishing, making it one of the main fishing spots for Dongju Island and a coveted location for anglers. Due to Lin'ao Islet's unique geology and abundant plant ecology, it was designated as a county-level natural landscape in 2018 and is one of ten regions in the Matsu Geopark.
