Dili Village Catholic Church Introduction
Di-Li Village, like other Bunun communities, practices either Christianity or Catholicism, with both denominations represented by chapels in the village. The Catholic church in Di-Li Village has been established for over 50 years, and it is said that over 80% of villagers in their 30s and 40s were born in a flat building above the church, delivered by nuns. This record of the Di-Li Village Catholic church can be considered quite remarkable in Taiwan. The red-brick church is situated on a green lawn adorned with lush plants, exuding a simple yet stable force that naturally encourages visitors to tread lightly and behave respectfully. Near the church, there is a herb garden; in addition to being used as an ingredient for dishes and pastries, nuns guide local women in making herbal sachets for sale to increase the villagers' income. Below the church, there is a basketball court, which serves as a place for the athletic indigenous people to spend many formative years.
