Sun Moon Lake Bicycle Path - Shuishe Section Introduction
This bicycle path extends from Shuishe Pier along the banks of Sun Moon Lake to Chaowu Pier, Zhushiyuan, and Wenwu Temple, with a total length of about 3.5 kilometers. Some sections allow views of Hanbi Peninsula and Shuishe Pier, making it a gentle route suitable for the public. The entrance to the Shuishe waterfront trail is located to the left of Shuishe Pier and serves as an important pedestrian route linking Shuishe Pier to Jiulongkou. The entire path features accessible slopes, making it very suitable for family outings. It is flat and easy to walk, following the wooden plank path along the lake and leading from Chaowu Pier directly to Jiulongkou. The trail is lush with green trees, providing a cool environment even in the height of summer. There are resting spots along the way where visitors can take a break or gaze out over the lake, enjoying the sight of yachts bobbing in the waters; or the calm lake surface reflecting the sunlight, shimmering as if thousands of gold and silver coins have fallen into it. On misty days, Xuan Zang Temple on the Qingshan Mountain resembles an ancient temple in a traditional Chinese painting, evoking a sense of nostalgia. From any angle on the path, the Cien Pagoda on Shabalan Mountain can be seen standing majestically, like a sword, always guarding Sun Moon Lake. Upon reaching Jiulongkou, there is an artificial floating island filled with wild ginger flowers, where you may occasionally spot a hidden night heron poised and ready to hunt. If you still have the interest and energy, you can continue to the Wenwu Temple's stairway or climb up to Zhushiyuan on the other side for another leg of your journey. At night, looking from the trail towards Shuishe Pier, the lights of hotels and restaurants sparkle, resembling colorful gems in the dark, making for a truly splendid sight.
