National Chi Nan University Introduction
Established in 1995 in Puli Township, Nantou County, the geographical center of Taiwan, National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) upholds the mission of promoting Chinese culture to the south and overseas, dedicated to cultivating a diverse range of talents rooted in Taiwan with international mobility. It is a comprehensive university encompassing humanities, management, technology, and education. The surrounding towns of NCHU predominantly feature a blend of rural and urban landscapes, adjacent to the traditional territories of indigenous peoples, reflecting a profound multicultural heritage. Additionally, due to its proximity to renowned recreational attractions such as Sun Moon Lake, the New Central Cross-Island Highway, and Hehuanshan, NCHU has gradually developed various interdisciplinary and socially participatory innovative teaching programs that resonate with regional industrial dynamics, forming an educational characteristic of “deep cultivation in Shui-sha-lien, moving towards Southeast Asia.” NCHU is situated on a plateau in the outskirts of Puli, sheltered by the Central Mountain Range, Hehuanshan, and Xueshan. The 150-hectare campus is covered by 88% undulating green spaces and is surrounded by over 12,000 trees of 113 species, including Taiwan fir. Among the tree canopies, cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and osmanthus trees bloom, serving as a habitat for more than 10 species of frogs and 110 species of butterflies. The curriculum integrates green energy, waste reduction, and smart machinery. NCHU has been ranked 51st globally and 3rd in Taiwan in the international "World Green University" evaluation. The campus features 700 Taiwan cherry trees and over 300 Japanese double cherry trees, which bloom in vivid red, pink, or white flowers during the chill of February and March, attracting large crowds to enjoy cherry blossom viewing and participate in community tea-drinking events, experiencing the beauty of everyday life.
