National Chi Nan University Introduction
Established in 1995 in Puli Township, Nantou County, which is the geographical center of Taiwan, National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) carries the mission of promoting Chinese culture to the south and overseas. It is dedicated to cultivating comprehensive talents with strong international mobility rooted in Taiwan, offering programs across humanities, management, technology, and education. Surrounding NCHU are towns that coexist with rural areas, bordering traditional Indigenous territories, which enrich the multicultural background. Additionally, due to its proximity to renowned recreational resources like Sun Moon Lake, the New Central Cross-Island Highway, and Hehuan Mountain, NCHU has gradually developed various innovative teaching initiatives that are interdisciplinary and encourage social participation, resonating with regional industrial dynamics, embodying the educational philosophy of "deep cultivation in the Shuili River area and outreach toward Southeast Asia." NCHU is located in the suburban plateau of Puli, sheltered by the Central Mountain Range, Hehuan Mountain, and Snow Mountain Range. Its 150-hectare campus is covered by 88% of lush green grasslands and surrounded by over 12,000 trees of 113 species, including Taiwan Fir. The shaded areas are adorned with cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and osmanthus, serving as habitats for over 10 species of frogs and 110 species of butterflies. The curriculum integrates green energy, waste reduction, and smart machinery; it has been ranked 51st globally and 3rd in Taiwan in the "World Green University" evaluation. The campus boasts 700 Taiwan Cherry trees and over 300 Japanese Yaezakura Cherry trees, which bloom in vibrant red, soft pink, or delicate white flowers during the chilly spring months of February and March, attracting large crowds to admire the blossoms and participate in tea events offered by NCHU and the community, experiencing everyday beauty.
