Sijifeng平 Introduction
In the upstream of the Penglai River in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli, there is a little-known hidden gem—the 42nd Fanping Ecological Trail. The entire trail is shaded by lush trees, with gentle streams flowing along the path, the sounds of insects and birds filling the air, and fish visible beneath the surface. This serene trail is vibrant with life, offering numerous spots to appreciate the fish. The path consists of wooden boardwalks and stone-paved surfaces, has a gentle slope, and spans approximately 400 meters, taking about 20 minutes to walk through, making it easy for anyone to stroll along, suitable for families with both elderly and young children. It is especially recommended to visit here during the summer for a cool retreat. At the end of the 42nd Fanping Trail lies a natural spring pool, which is a highlight of this area. The water temperature remains around 18 degrees Celsius year-round, with clear cold spring water gushing from the cracks in the stones. In summer, it provides refreshing coolness, while in winter, the mist rises, resembling a fairyland. The area is still and calm, with the surface of the pool almost like still lake water, making the clear water and native fish such as the Taiwanese stone loach easily visible, even the gravel and aquatic plants at the bottom of the pool are clear. On hot days, visitors can take off their shoes and dip their feet in the shallower part of the pool, enjoying the refreshing chill. Surrounding the pool and along the trail, the vegetation is lush, with beech and cedar trees forming a forest. The reflections of the trees and shrubs create a picturesque scene on the still water's surface. In summer, one can also witness the blooming of paulownia flowers and the dancing of fireflies, adding vitality to this tranquil setting. Unless visitors wish to linger longer, this place can be said to be an impeccable paradise on earth.
