Deer Park Introduction
Located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, Luchang, formerly known as Jiubusi, derives its name from the indigenous Jiubusi tribe that once inhabited the area. Later, due to the abundance of deer in the Luchang mountainous region, Han settlers named it Luchang when they began to cultivate Nanzhuang. It is a simple and secluded mountain community. Luchang is the furthest upstream settlement of the Atayal people on the Zhonggang River, situated at the northeastern foothills of Jialishan, surrounded by the many peaks of the Jialishan massif. The lush greenery enveloping the entire area creates a breathtaking landscape that makes one feel as if they have arrived in a utopia! Due to geological changes, the residents once migrated to Dongjiang New Village above the Nanzhuang苗圃, but most of them returned to Luchang to cultivate shiitake mushrooms and talc to make a living. The local transportation is inconvenient, so the pristine natural scenery remains unchanged, featuring layered mountains, dense forests, and deep valleys, with a naturally magnificent and captivating landscape.
