Luchang Introduction
Luchang, located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, was formerly known as Jiubusi, named after the indigenous Jiubusi community that once inhabited the area. Later, due to the abundance of deer in the Luchang mountain area, Han settlers named it Luchang when they began to cultivate Nanzhuang. It is a simple and quiet mountain tribe. Luchang is the westernmost settlement of the Atayal people along the upper reaches of the Zhonggang River, located in the northeastern foothills of Jialishan, surrounded by the peaks of the Jialishan massif. The lush greenery envelops the entire area, and the magnificent mountain scenery and natural canyon landscape give one the feeling of being in a paradise! Luchang once experienced geological shifts, prompting residents to relocate to Dongjiang New Village above the Nanzhuang Nursery, but most returned to Luchang to cultivate mushrooms and indigo for a living. Due to the inconvenient transportation, the original natural landscape remains intact, with layers of mountains, dense forests, and deep valleys, creating a breathtakingly beautiful natural environment.
