Luchang Introduction
Located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, Luchang was formerly known as Jiubusi, named after the indigenous Jiubusi community that once inhabited the area. Later, due to the abundance of deer in the Luchang mountainous region, Han settlers who developed Nanzhuang named it Luchang. It is a quaint and secluded mountain tribe. Luchang is the farthest settlement of the Atayal tribe upstream of the Zhonggang River, situated on the northeastern slopes of Jalishan, surrounded by the numerous peaks of the Jalishan massif. The lush greenery envelops the entire area, and the magnificent mountains and natural gorges give a feeling of arriving in a utopia! Luchang once experienced land shifts, which prompted residents to migrate to Dongjiang New Village above the Nanzhuang苗圃, but most residents returned to Luchang to cultivate mushrooms and tung tree for a living. Due to inconvenient transportation, the original natural scenery remains intact, with layered mountains, dense forests, and deep gorges, presenting a stunningly beautiful natural landscape.
