Luchang Introduction
Located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, Duhchang was formerly known as Jiubusi, named after the indigenous Jiubusi tribe that once inhabited the area. Later, due to the abundance of deer in the Duhchang mountainous area, Han settlers named it Duhchang when they began cultivation in Nanzhuang. It is a simple and secluded mountain village. Duhchang is the furthest settlement of the Atayal tribe at the source of the Zhonggang River, situated on the northeastern foothills of Jiali Mountain, surrounded by the numerous peaks of the Jiali Mountain Range. The lush greenery veils the entire region, creating a magnificent mountain landscape and natural gorge that gives visitors the feeling of entering a paradise on earth! Duhchang once experienced land movements that caused residents to migrate to Dongjiang New Village above the Nanzhuang苗圃. However, most residents returned to Duhchang to cultivate mushrooms and Chinese rhubarb for a living. The local transportation is inconvenient, allowing the original natural scenery to remain intact, with layered mountains, dense forests, and deep valleys, creating a magnificent and enchanting natural landscape.
