Giant Rock Trail Introduction
In the Lijia Tribe, head southwest into the deep mountains towards "Giant Rock Slope" following the signs. The journey covers approximately 8 kilometers along a streamside path, crossing bridges, and then entering the mountain industrial road. Although the distance is long, the scenic beauty along the way is stunning, and you can see the back of Xiangshan and the peaks on the Alishan Highway (Tai 18 Line). However, the journey is both treacherous and beautiful. This stretch of road to Giant Rock Slope, as well as the slope itself, possesses such characteristics. If guided by knowledgeable local community members, the travel risks can be significantly reduced. After navigating several twists and turns on mountain roads, you will arrive at a steep ascent where you will see the "Limei Emergency Shelter Trail" entrance, which connects Lijia to Shanmei. After traversing a section of hillside and a farmer's road through bamboo groves, you will finally reach the parking lot for the "Giant Rock Slope Trail." From the parking lot entrance via the industrial road, head to the highest point of Giant Rock Slope, "Giant Rock Slope Peak," and take the adjacent path down; this will be the best route to fully experience and appreciate the beauty of Giant Rock Slope. Crossing streams and passing through bamboo groves, the sounds of wary animals signal that you have indeed arrived at a remote and secret sanctuary. At the end of this short trail is the clearly inclined Giant Rock Slope. With the aid of climbable ropes, you will soon reach the top of the trail and catch a glimpse of Giant Rock Slope Peak. The erosion grooves, cracks on the massive rock slab, and streams that flow or disappear among them are fascinating geological features, worthy of examination by geographers and enthusiasts. From the peak of Giant Rock Slope, slowly descend along the connecting path. Following the heavy rains from Typhoon Herb in 2006, not only was this 700-meter exposed rock slab revealed to the world, but also under the bridge in the middle section of the trail, you'll see potholes. The viewing pavilion at the end of the trail offers a graceful place to rest and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Danayig Valley.
