Dragon Head Mountain Introduction
Longtou Mountain is located near the 12 km mark of County Road 132 in Maolin District. Covering an area of approximately 22 hectares, Longtou Mountain is a precious example of a cirque landform, surrounded on three sides by high mountains, with streams flowing in winding and meandering patterns. The river water is clear, and where it flows, unusual rock formations and sheer cliffs stand tall, creating a ridge that resembles a dragon's backbone, giving the whole terrain the appearance of a lying dragon. Groups of eagles can often be seen soaring along the cliffs or gliding through the valleys, which is why it was originally named "Eagle Valley." Over a long period of erosion, the flowing water has further divided the hill into two sections, and from a distance, it looks as if a giant dragon is spitting pearls, hence it is also known as "Dragon Spitting Pearls." Following the adjacent pathway leads to a stone pavilion at the summit of Longtou Mountain, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view.
