National Chung Hsing University XinHua Forest Station Introduction
The Xinhua Forestry Experiment Station covers an area of over 370 hectares. It was originally an experimental forest of National Chung Hsing University and is the only low-altitude subtropical forest in Taiwan, making it a great destination for leisure and vacation. The park boasts the largest Swietenia macrophylla (mahogany) forest in Taiwan, and every April, visitors can appreciate the poetic sight of mahogany leaves dancing in the wind. At the same time, fireflies can also be observed here. From May to October, it is the best season for butterfly watching, and throughout the botanical garden's walking trails, the Aristolochia (pipevine) that swallowtail butterflies love to feed on can be seen everywhere, creating a beautiful scene filled with fluttering butterflies. The forest bath trail is the most attractive facility at the Xinhua Forestry Experiment Station, spread across the entire botanical garden area, resembling a spider web, interconnected and easily accessible. Some trails undulate with the terrain, while others are along ridges or valleys, offering a mix of easy and challenging paths. Accompanied by the impressive mahogany forest scenery, lush green lawns, and the picturesque views of the lakes and mountains, walking through the forest allows one to immerse in the abundant flowers and trees, as well as the gentle calls of the flowing springs and birds, making it an unforgettable experience.
