Longdong Bay Cape Trail Introduction
Walking along the cliff trail, with the deep blue sea on one side and lush green mountains on the other, one can't help but feel a surge of emotion and marvel at the picturesque beauty. Longdong, named for its coastal rocks that curve like a giant dragon, connects two major capes of Northeast Taiwan through the Bay Cape Trail, weaving together the stories of Bihoukeng, with a history of 6 million years, and Longdong Cape, which is 35 million years old. You will feel a deep respect for nature and be awed by the grandeur of this intertwining of time and space. The trail starts at Xilingyan Temple, and after just a few minutes, you will reach an observation platform where you can enjoy the sea views, listen to the waves, and admire the unique rock formations. From this high vantage point, you can clearly see the magnificent marine scenery and rugged cliffs, and you might even see climbers on the rocky wall, clad in gear and striving upward; this is the famous Longdong Rock Climbing Area, attracting adventurers from around the world. In just 2 to 3 hours, passing through this area feels like traversing eons. Besides experiencing the passage of time and the power of geological movements, the hiking also refreshes the body and mind, while the striking landscapes of mountains and sea entice visitors to linger. When you have time, take a walk here and witness this ancient and rugged geological wonder that transcends time and space. **Reminder**: The trail starts at the Xilingyan Temple on the northern side of Longdong Bay, connecting all the way to Longdong Ocean Park. The round trip from the southern entrance of Longdong Ocean Park to Hemeikou takes about 1.5 hours; a round trip to Longdong Bay Park takes about 3 hours. The path is flat and easy to walk, allowing visitors to adjust their itinerary according to the weather and their physical condition.
