Longdong Bay Cape Trail Introduction
Walking along the cliff path, with the deep blue ocean on one side and lush green mountains on the other, evokes a sense of awe, and one can't help but marvel at this picturesque beauty. The name "Longdong" originates from the coastal rocks in this area, which curve like a giant dragon lying in wait. The Bay Cape Trail connects the two major capes of the Northeast Coast, intertwining the stories of Nito Cape, which is 6 million years old, and Longdong Cape, which is 35 million years old. You will feel reverence for nature and wonder at the splendor woven through these different timelines. The trail begins at Xilingyan Temple, and within a few minutes, you will reach the viewing platform, where you can admire the sea, listen to the waves, and appreciate the unique rock formations. From this high vantage point, you can clearly see the magnificent seascape and the rugged cliffs. You might even spot climbers fully equipped and striving to ascend the rock face, which is a famous climbing area that attracts challenge enthusiasts from all over the world. In just 2 to 3 hours, it's as if you are traversing through millennia. [Note] The trail starts at Xilingyan Temple on the north side of Longdong Sijihu Bay and connects to Longdong Bay Marine Park. The round trip from Longdong South Entrance Marine Park to Hemei American Small takes about 1.5 hours; to Longdong Bay Park, it takes about 3 hours, with a smooth and easy path. Visitors can adjust their itinerary according to the weather and their physical condition.
