Longdong Bay Cape Trail Introduction
Walking along the cliffside trail, with the azure ocean on one side and verdant mountains on the other, emotions well up, and one can't help but marvel at the picturesque and poetic beauty. The name Longdong comes from the coastal rock formations here that curve like a giant dragon coiled. The Bay Cape Trail connects the two major capes of Northeast Taiwan and links the 6 million years of history at Bitou Cape with the 35 million years at Longdong Cape, offering a sense of awe for nature and the splendor of this intertwined temporal tapestry. The trail begins at the Xilingyan Temple, and within just a few minutes, you will reach a viewing platform where you can enjoy the sea, listen to the waves, and appreciate the unique rock formations. From this vantage point, you can clearly admire the magnificent sea view and the rugged cliffs; perhaps you'll even see climbers fully equipped and putting in great effort to ascend the rock faces, which are famous among challenge enthusiasts from both domestic and international locations. Within a mere 2 to 3 hours here feels like traversing through eons, as you experience the force of time and the movement of the earth. The hike not only rejuvenates the body and mind but is also enhanced by the spectacular scenery where mountains meet the sea, leaving you reluctant to leave. When you have some free time, come stroll here and witness this ancient and robust geological wonder that transcends time and space. 【Note】 The trail starts at the Xilingyan Temple, located on the northern side of Longdong Seasonal Bay, and connects all the way to Longdong Ocean Park. The round trip from Longdong South Entrance Ocean Park to Hemeiguo Elementary School takes about 1.5 hours; returning to Longdong Bay Park takes approximately 3 hours. The trail is flat and easy to walk, allowing visitors to arrange their journey according to the weather and their physical condition.
