Fortress of Valor Introduction
Yongshi Fortress, one of the three forts on Lieyu (also known as Little Kinmen), covers a large area. To enter the fortress, visitors must cross a small bridge and traverse a three-meter-deep trench along a gentle slope. Beyond a camouflage net lies a grand entrance marked with the name "Yongshi Fortress," emphasizing the tense atmosphere during the time when Lieyu was at the frontline. Yongshi Fortress is divided into two levels; the upper level mainly consists of gun emplacements, a Zhongshan Room, and sleeping quarters, while the underground section features eight machine gun bunkers, four ammunition depots, and a firewater tank. Notably, there is also a tank bunker. Inside the fortress are extensive underground passageways stretching several hundred meters, connecting the main military facilities beneath the surface, as well as linking to the adjacent Tiehan Fortress, which is also open for tourism. This passageway has been transformed into a landmine exhibition hall, allowing visitors to experience the sensation of navigating underground.
