Wei Lou Introduction
"Wei Lu" is the former residence of Hong Shou, an assistant at the National Academy during the Ming Dynasty. Hong Shou, styled Fengming, was from West Hong in Kinmen. He was well-versed in scholarship and served as a professor in local and county schools early in his career, with many of his students passing the imperial examinations. He was highly regarded in the scholarly community and was respected as a "master." In August of the 56th year of the Republic of China, Chiang Ching-kuo visited this site and instructed the establishment of a scenic area here, as well as the renovation of the remaining relics from West Hong and the ancient Minnan "Wei Lu" house with its Four-Cypress Heads.
