Kinmen Agricultural Research and Extension Station Introduction
The Kinmen Agricultural Research Institute was established in 1952, with its primary tasks including research on vegetables, melons and fruits, ornamental plants, and seed propagation. In 1997, it transformed into a natural ecology and educational park, creating multi-objective agricultural management, introducing tourism and recreational activities, and providing teaching and ecological environment improvement. In recent years, the Kinmen Agricultural Research Institute has aimed to integrate production, life, ecology, and sustainability, actively revitalizing idle spaces and transforming the dilapidated conservation room into a leisure agricultural experience center – a hands-on classroom. It plans to incorporate rural elements to showcase local agricultural products and related learning experiences, innovating tourism on the eastern peninsula and creating new highlights for experience-oriented photography. The institute occasionally sets up flower fields to attract tourists and has planned areas for barbecue pits, Eurasian otter habitats, the Houlong Creek waterfront area, ecological regulation ponds, and flower corridors; the plants in the park change with the seasons, and the excellent environment attracts fireflies, cicadas, and various birds to stay! The barbecue area is equipped with 28 barbecue zones, each accommodating about 10 people, with seating and round kilns provided. Visitors can bring their own fuel and ingredients to enjoy the rural life. The sliding grass area at Haohanpo features a viewing platform, resting seats, and similar facilities, where people can bring their own sliding tools to enjoy recreational activities.
