In the early days of operating the store, Dong Chunliang required employees to wear masks, work hats, and gloves to maintain food hygiene; however, employees opposed this due to heat. He then led by example and required all employees to wear them, which resulted in Zeng Ji's signature look: employees in white uniforms, white hats, and white masks publicly making rice cakes in the store, giving consumers greater confidence in food hygiene. This was also the first innovative practice among rice cake makers nationwide. insisting on not using preservatives to make rice cakes, although it may not make Dong Chunliang wealthy, it has allowed him to support his family... Dong Chunliang admits that this management philosophy is relatively conservative. However, now, under the insistence of having no preservatives, and through repeated efforts in developing techniques, Zeng Ji's handmade rice cakes have extended their shelf life from one day to two days.
