Shimen Farmers' Association Rice Dumplings Introduction
Shimen Agricultural Cooperative's Pork Rice Dumplings is a specialty shop that produces rice dumplings in Shimen District. For the ingredients used in the dumplings, they choose CAS-certified slaughtered pork, round glutinous rice from Chihshang, Taitung, and thick, fragrant Taiwan button mushrooms. They are meticulous in handling the bamboo leaves; each leaf is carefully washed under flowing water. Additionally, for flavoring, the shallots are thoroughly cleaned after removing the ends and peeling before being sautéed. Even the salted egg yolks wrapped in the bamboo leaves are carefully prepared; they are sprinkled with rice wine and then roasted in the oven before being mixed into the filling, enhancing the flavor of the yolk when tasted. In recent years, Shimen Agricultural Cooperative's Pork Rice Dumplings has continuously developed new flavors, including dumplings filled with dried scallops and abalone, stylish ice dumplings, high-fiber veggie dumplings inspired by health concepts, and red yeast rice health dumplings; their latest creation, "Taro-flavored Sakura Shrimp Dumplings," offers more options for the public.
