Shimen Farmers’ Association Sticky Rice Dumplings Introduction
Shi Nong Meat Zong is a specialty store for meat zongzi guided by the Shimen District Farmers' Association. In selecting ingredients for the zongzi, they choose CAS-certified pork, round glutinous rice from Chihshang in Taitung, and Taiwan's thick and aromatic button mushrooms. The treatment of the bamboo leaves is also meticulous; each leaf is carefully washed under running water. Additionally, the shallots used for flavor enhancement are meticulously cleaned by removing the ends and outer skin before being sautéed. Even the salted egg yolks wrapped in the bamboo leaves require effort; they are sprinkled with rice wine and baked before being added to the filling to enhance their flavor. In recent years, Shi Nong Meat Zong has constantly developed new flavors, including scallop and abalone zongzi, trendy ice zongzi, high-fiber vegetarian zongzi, and red yeast rice zongzi. The latest creation, "Taro and Sakura Shrimp Zong," offers more choices for the public.
