Liu's Rice Dumplings Introduction
Liu's Meat Rice Dumplings, which has been selling meat dumplings in Shimen District for nearly thirty years, is known as the ancestor of meat dumplings in the area. Back in the day, the owner Liu Guosheng set up a stall in front of the "Shibawangong Temple," primarily selling meat dumplings and establishing the reputation of "Liu's Meat Rice Dumplings." More than a decade ago, the owner opened a shop on Zhongyang Road in Shimen City and officially put up the sign for "Liu's Meat Rice Dumplings." Due to the large volume of sales each day, the shop employs over ten people to take turns in making and wrapping dumplings, with skillful hands from grandmothers to brides from other regions. About Liu's Meat Rice Dumplings: In the early years of the Republic of China (around 1971), the worship at the "Shibawangong Temple" became increasingly popular, attracting many people to pay respects to those who perished at sea. It was shared among the worshippers that offering hot food as a sacrifice would be more effective. As a result, Liu Guosheng, who had been selling meat dumplings in the area around Shimen Cave, began to occasionally move his stall to the Shibawangong Temple to sell his dumplings. Consequently, the business flourished, and the demand for meat dumpling offerings arose. To focus on producing meat dumplings, Liu's Meat Rice Dumplings relocated from a small space of three or four ping to Zhongyang Road in Shimen City and officially set up the "Liu's Meat Rice Dumplings" sign.
