Liu's Rice Dumplings Introduction

Liu Family Rice Dumplings, which has been selling rice dumplings in Shimen District for nearly thirty years, is considered the ancestor of rice dumplings in the area. Back in the day, the owner, Liu Guosheng, set up a stall in front of the "Shibawangong Temple," primarily selling rice dumplings and establishing the reputation of "Liu Family Rice Dumplings." Over a decade ago, the owner opened a store on Central Road in Shimen, officially putting up the sign for "Liu Family Rice Dumplings." Due to high daily sales, the shop employs more than ten people to take turns making and wrapping dumplings, with skilled workers ranging from grandmothers to brides from other areas. In the early 60th year of the Republic of China, the incense at "Shibawangong Temple" began to flourish. Many people came to worship the sea disaster victims, and it was said among the believers that offering hot food as sacrificial offerings was more effective. As a result, Liu Guosheng, who sold rice dumplings around Shimen Cave, began occasionally moving his stall to Shibawangong Temple to sell dumplings. This led to a booming dumpling business and gave rise to the practice of offering rice dumplings as sacrifices. Therefore, to specialize in producing rice dumplings, Liu Family Rice Dumplings moved from a small alley of only three or four ping to Central Road in Shimen, officially displaying the sign for "Liu Family Rice Dumplings."
