Jinbao Li Market Soy Milk Shop

Taipei Foods

The old soy milk shop in the old market is a popular breakfast place known to everyone in the Jinshan area. It has inherited the traditional technique of hand-making soy milk for half a century, using high-quality non-GMO yellow soybeans imported from abroad. The soy milk is ground without filtering out the soy pulp, and cooked to bring a slight roasted flavor, which makes every customer who has come to taste it want to return for more. The first-generation owner, Chen Lin Bao-rong, still helps make rice balls in the shop every day. The glutinous rice balls filled with meat floss and pickled vegetables, along with tender fried dough sticks, may look similar to those from other soy milk shops, but they offer a significantly better texture. No wonder many office workers living in Jinshan will stop by the market to grab a few rice balls to take with them before heading to work. There's also the old-fashioned egg pancake, which has a fragrant texture from the slow cooking process that can't be found elsewhere. Source: New Taipei City Food Guide, August Issue.
