Wang's Shrimp Soup Introduction
The truly remarkable culinary masters do not need an extensive menu; a dish or two of exquisite cuisine can capture the hearts of food enthusiasts. Wang's Shrimp Soup, located on Sanhe Road in New Taipei City’s Sanchong District, is such an old establishment that specializes solely in one dish: shrimp soup. There’s no need to look at the menu on the wall; just tell the owner how many bowls you want. It feels similar to some well-known oyster vermicelli shops that thrive on a singular focus; indeed, the true delight of this dish is filled with the owner's confidence in their culinary offering. Wang's Shrimp Soup has been operating in Sanchong for over thirty years. The original owner, Mr. Wang, opened the shop on Datong South Road, but after the landlord reclaimed the property, he moved to the current location outside the Jieshou Market. It is now run by the second generation of the Wang family. The size of the shrimp in Wang's shrimp soup, which seems to overflow from the spoon, is enough to elicit delight, and the specially crafted broth ensures that every customer praises it. In every bowl of shrimp soup prepared by Mr. Wang, the attentiveness to customers is evident. At just 50 TWD per bowl, served in a deeper and wider bowl, the portion is generous and substantial, leaving one feeling half-full after just one bowl.
