Wang's Shrimp Soup

Taipei Foods

A truly remarkable gourmet restaurant doesn’t need to offer an extensive menu; just one or two exceptional dishes can capture the hearts of food enthusiasts. Located on Sanhe Road in Sanchong, Wang Shrimp Soup is one such old establishment that specializes in a single dish: "shrimp soup." There's nothing else on the menu, and patrons can simply tell the owner how many bowls they want without even glancing at the wall menu. It feels similar to some renowned oyster noodle shops that stand out for their signature dish, showcasing the owner’s confidence in their culinary creation. Wang Shrimp Soup has been operating in Sanchong for over thirty years. The founder, Lao Wang, originally opened the shop on Datong South Road, but due to the landlord reclaiming the premises, he moved to the current location outside Jie Shou Market. Later, it was taken over by the second generation of the Wang family. The shrimp in Wang’s soup is so generously portioned that it overflows the spoon, which is immensely satisfying. Coupled with a specially crafted broth, each visiting customer praises the dish. In each bowl of Wang's shrimp soup, the owner's attention to detail shines through. At just 50 NTD per bowl, the soup is served in a deeper, wider bowl that offers a hearty serving, leaving one feeling pleasantly full after just one bowl.
