To meet the needs of devotees and local residents who observe vegetarianism when visiting the Dajia Mazu Temple, Yu Jan Hsin replaced the traditional lard pastry with a recipe using natural butter. This not only led to the creation of the famous "butter flaky pastry" known far and wide today but also earned Yu Jan Hsin the title of the hometown of butter flaky pastries.
