In 1997, the Guantian District Farmers' Association organized the first Guantian Water Chestnut Festival from October 5 to October 12 to inject new life into water chestnuts, integrating local cultural history. During the festival, they launched the "Water Chestnut Feast," accepting reservations for banquets set by the Hulupi Lakeside. The event attracted more than 50,000 visitors, and the "Water Chestnut Feast" became famous throughout Taiwan.
