Baodaxiang Sunflower Seeds Introduction

Insist on Sun-Drying with a Taste of Sunshine: The banks of the Zengwen River were once the largest production area for sunflower seeds in Taiwan, with Madou being the primary manufacturing and wholesale region. Baodaxiang is the founding shop for licorice-flavored soy sauce sunflower seeds. For three generations, the family has adhered to the traditional sun-drying method to create seeds that boast the sunshine aroma from the sun-drying process. First, the seeds are soaked for a whole day, occasionally stirred for a spa-like treatment. The next morning, they are given a warm wash, mixed with licorice and soy sauce, and then cooked. After cooking, they undergo sunbathing, and finally, they are mixed with coconut oil for a finishing touch. The entire production process takes one to two days. Low Sugar, Low Salt, Emphasis on Ingredients: While sunflower seeds can be made with salad oil and machine drying, those seeds tend to have an oily smell that can leave an unpleasant aftertaste. Baodaxiang insists on spa treatments, sun-drying, and using low sugar and low salt, employing higher-cost soy sauce and coconut oil.
