Mao Sheng Sushi Introduction

The trendiest Japanese street food stall in Chiayi has transformed an old corner shop into a popular photo spot at night. Located near the Datung Elementary School, at the intersection of Xinrong Road and Chenggong Street, the corner is illuminated by two lanterns that read "Mao Sheng" in Chinese. Established over forty years ago, Mao Sheng Sushi is a cherished memory for many longtime residents of Chiayi. After the second generation took over, they hired the renowned design company "Benshi Space Workshop" for a complete renovation and brand identity planning. This transformed the community's warm sushi stall into a modern retro new attraction on Chiayi's streets, attracting young people and tourists alike. The revamped Mao Sheng Sushi always draws long queues on weekends, but on weekdays, it remains focused on local customers. The scene of the owner chatting with long-time patrons at the counter has simply changed its backdrop, but the warmth of their camaraderie remains unchanged. When it comes to the menu, the chefs at Mao Sheng stay true to their years of providing affordable Taiwanese-style Japanese cuisine, with classic dishes like salads, sashimi, pork chops, and various side dishes being popular among many customers. Curious if there's a unique Chiayi element in the dishes? The answer is surprisingly "mayonnaise"! A little insider scoop: the mayonnaise at Mao Sheng Sushi is one-of-a-kind, specially commissioned from a specific manufacturer, using exclusive "white vinegar," and has a very short shelf life, ensuring fresh supply.
