Maosheng Sushi Introduction
In Chiayi, the trendiest Japanese food stall transforms an old corner shop into a popular spot as night falls. Located near Daitong Elementary School, at the intersection of Xinrong Road and Chenggong Street, two lanterns illuminate the corner, reading “Maosheng.” Founded over forty years ago, Maosheng Sushi is cherished by many long-time residents of Chiayi. After the second generation took over, they hired the renowned design company "Benshi Space Production" to renovate and undertake brand identity planning. This transformation turned the cozy sushi stall into a modern yet vintage new attraction on the streets of Chiayi, appealing to young crowds and tourists alike. On weekends, Maosheng Sushi often has long lines, but on weekdays, it mainly serves local customers from Chiayi. The scenes of the owner chatting casually with regular customers at the counter remain heartwarming, just with a new backdrop. When it comes to the restaurant's specialties, the chefs at Maosheng stick to their long-standing commitment to affordable Taiwanese-style Japanese cuisine, with classic dishes like salads, sashimi, pork cutlets, and various side dishes that are very popular among customers. Curiously, is there a unique Chiayi element in their dishes? The answer is surprisingly “mayonnaise”! It is privately revealed that Maosheng Sushi's mayonnaise has a unique recipe, specially commissioned from a specific manufacturer, made with their exclusive “white vinegar.” It has a very short shelf life and is provided fresh.
