Maosheng Sushi Introduction
The trendiest Japanese restaurant in Chiayi, a street corner old shop has transformed into a popular photo spot at night. Located near Datong Elementary School in Chiayi City, at the intersection of Xinrong Road and Chenggong Street, two lanterns light up the corner with the characters "Maosheng" written on them. Maosheng Sushi, which has been in business for over forty years, holds a special place in the memories of many long-time Chiayi residents. After being taken over by the second generation, it underwent a renovation by the renowned design firm "Benshi Space Production," along with a brand identity planning. This transformed the warm sushi stall of the community into a modern and retro new attraction on the streets of Chiayi, attracting a young crowd and tourists from other places. The remodeled Maosheng Sushi always has long lines on weekends, but on weekdays, it primarily serves local customers. The scene of the owner chatting with long-time customers at the counter remains warm despite the change of decor. When it comes to the menu's characteristics, the chefs at Maosheng stay true to their long-standing position of affordable Taiwanese-style Japanese cuisine, with classic dishes like salad, sashimi, pork cutlet, and various side dishes being very popular among guests. Curiously, what unique Chiayi element is found in the dishes? The answer is "mayonnaise"! A little insider tip: the mayonnaise at Maosheng Sushi is specially commissioned from a specific manufacturer to create their exclusive "white vinegar," with a very short shelf life, ensuring freshness.
