Mister Coffee Introduction
Drip Slow Coffee evokes the Showa era, with the "Mihito Coffee" skilled in using movie scenes as thematic elements for its space. There are three locations across Taiwan: the Taipei store captures the Shanghai vibes from "In the Mood for Love," while the Tainan branch reflects the Hong Kong ambiance of "Days of Being Wild." The Chiayi location, affectionately known as Jiami, showcases the essence of 1960s Showa-style old Taiwanese street houses, creating a naturalistic environment reminiscent of daily life in Yasujiro Ozu's films. Mihito Coffee was brought to life by a duo of brothers involved in the arts, with the younger brother, Xiao Yi, displaying a unique sense of style. He wears floral shirts while brewing coffee in Tainan and changes into a black kimono at Jiami, adding depth to the cinematic feel of the space as he prepares coffee at the bar. Xiao Yi revealed that all the lighting is carefully designed. Jiami operates only four days a week, from 2 PM to 10 PM, making it one of the night owl cafes in Chiayi. As night deepens, sitting at the bar to enjoy Xiao Yi’s KONO drip coffee or traditional Japanese tea brewed by artisans creates a focused and tranquil atmosphere, where time seems to stand still, much like the transparent gaze of Uru, the tortoiseshell cat sitting by the window.
