Mimi's Coffee Introduction

Drip Slow Brew Showa Time, "Miki Coffee," which specializes in using movie scenes as a spatial theme, is inspired by the films of Yasujiro Ozu. With three locations across Taiwan, the Taipei store captures the Shanghai ambiance from "In the Mood for Love," while Tainan reflects the Hong Kong vibe from "Days of Being Wild." The Chiayi location, abbreviated as "Jia Mi," presents a 1960s Showa-era style reminiscent of old Taiwanese street houses, creating a "day-to-day life in Yasujiro Ozu's films" atmosphere. Miki Coffee is crafted by a pair of brothers engaged in the arts; the younger brother, Xiao Yi, has a unique fashion sense, wearing floral shirts while brewing coffee in Tainan and changing to a black kimono in Chiayi. When he brews coffee at the counter, the cinematic feel of the space is heightened, making even casual snapshots look like promotional photos. Xiao Yi reveals that all the lighting has been carefully designed. Jia Mi is open only four days a week, from 2 PM to 10 PM, making it one of the late-night coffee shops in Chiayi. As the night deepens, sitting at the bar to experience Xiao Yi's KONO drip coffee or Japanese artisan tea brewing offers a focused and tranquil atmosphere, where time seems to stand still, much like the tortoiseshell-colored cat, Uru, gazing through the window with clear eyes.
