Mysterious Coffee Introduction
Drip Slow Coffee is a nostalgic spot that captures the essence of the Showa era, inspired by Yasujiro Ozu's film scenes. The café, known as "Mimi Coffee," has three locations across Taiwan. The Taipei branch reflects the Shanghai aesthetic from "In the Mood for Love," while Tainan draws inspiration from Hong Kong's "Days of Being Wild." The Chiayi branch, affectionately known as "Jia Mi," showcases the charm of old Taiwanese street houses from the 1960s, creating a naturally immersive setting reminiscent of daily life in Ozu's films. Mimi Coffee is crafted by a duo of brothers involved in the arts; the younger brother, Xiao Yi, has a fashionable flair, sporting floral shirts while brewing coffee in Tainan and switching to a black kimono in Chiayi. His presence at the bar elevates the cinematic atmosphere, making every shot feel like a promotional photo. Xiao Yi revealed that all the lighting was meticulously designed. Jia Mi is open only four days a week, from 2 PM to 10 PM, and is considered one of Chiayi's night owl cafés. As night deepens, guests can enjoy a brewing experience with Xiao Yi using the KONO drip method or traditional Japanese hand-poured tea, wrapped in a focused and tranquil ambiance, where time seems to stand still—much like Uru, the tortoiseshell cat, gazing out the window with her clear, contemplative eyes.
