90 Sweet House Introduction
The first specialty Canelé shop in Chiayi was founded in 2020 by a young man in his 90s who loves making desserts and decided to start a business in his hometown. The shop features the theme of Canelé, renowned as the "Bell of Angels." Despite being located in a quieter old house on Guangcai Street in Chiayi City, he invested in hiring a well-known design company, Xiao Fuqi, to create an ambiance of French vintage charm with elegant blue tones and dark wood accents, complemented by dreamy white curtains. If you happen to walk down this street, you will be surprised to find a dessert shop exclusively selling Canelé. Stepping inside, you can feel the warm sweet aroma wafting from the baked goods. As a specialty Canelé shop, Jiu Ling Sweet House offers not only traditional Canelé but has also developed various flavors including Matcha, Coffee, Apricot, Cocoa, Earl Grey, Pu-erh tea, and Thai Milk Tea, with occasional limited editions like Mini Canelé, which involves more intricate production but is suitable for a single bite. The shop also launches special assorted flavor gift boxes for different holidays. Due to the pandemic, the current operation is run by one pastry chef, and dine-in service is temporarily unavailable. It is best to place a reservation for your favorite Canelé flavors. Image source: Chiayi City Government Tourism Department | Photography: Mag.
