Yin Yin Herbal Jelly / Oil Head Egg Cake / Pin Hua Tofu Pudding Introduction

Chiayi Xian Cao Bo Legend. The story of the flavored "Xian Cao" ice in bags, where "Yi Yin Xian Cao Bo waits for customers at the same place after closing down," has been pieced together by local people. What does the successor say? Eric recalls that when he was selling egg cakes at Yi Yin, the Xian Cao Bo had already retired for ten years, and the old man was initially unhappy that someone was occupying his territory. Eric calls him "grandpa." The Xian Cao Bo was very old, and after retirement, he would walk from home to Yi Yin every day, seemingly "waiting for customers," which actually concealed the loneliness of the elderly, as he could chat with people here and be accompanied by noisy young folks... Over time, one day grandpa asked Eric: "Do you want to learn how to make Xian Cao?" Thus the story could continue. Grandpa insisted on using the relatively troublesome sweet potato starch to solidify the Xian Cao, and it took the young man a long time to practice before he got his approval to start selling. When he opened the shop under the name "Yi Yin Xian Cao," grandpa was still alive and would occasionally come by for "quality control," assuring old customers that this shop was taught by him personally. The cross-generational friendship between the young man and grandpa became a well-known tale. A few years ago, the Xian Cao Bo passed away, and Eric regretted not capturing grandpa's appearance and smile, so he had to ask a friend to paint a portrait in remembrance. He also replicated the original flavored Xian Cao ice in bags to pay tribute! Image source: Chiayi City Government Tourism Bureau | Photographer: Mag.
