Zhuo Wu Coffee Introduction
In 2001, Xu Dingye's father, Xu Junrong, resolutely ended the family's tea production and switched to growing coffee trees on Zhuowu Mountain, the steepest area at the southern end of Alishan. Initially, he had little knowledge about coffee beans and was a complete novice in the coffee industry. After five years of arduous research and exploration—from farm management, bean picking to roasting—Xu Junrong personally oversaw every aspect. To ensure quality, he wore reading glasses to meticulously sift through the coffee beans one by one, day and night, ultimately selecting the coffee beans that won the national first prize in the "Taiwan Specialty Coffee Bean Evaluation," transforming strings of red gems into the representative product of Zhuowu Mountain Farm. Reflecting on his father's struggles during those five years, Xu Dingye mentioned, "At that time, we accumulated nearly 700 kilograms of green beans that we couldn't sell over two years." In 2007, to help promote their own coffee beans, Xu Dingye opened a shop in Chiayi City named "Zhuowu Coffee." Besides selling coffee drinks made from their farm's beans, the menu gradually expanded to include desserts, brunch, coffee brewing tools, and gift boxes over time. Even with the honor of having "national first prize coffee," Xu Dingye remains diligent about the coffee quality in the shop. To maintain strict quality control, he continues to learn and obtain coffee-related certifications both domestically and internationally, introducing innovative "nitrogen coffee" and "nitrogen tea" that incorporate liquid nitrogen, producing a rich, creamy foam that enhances the sweetness in each sip. At Zhuowu Coffee, while you may not see glamorous decor or trendy atmospheres, one can always feel the warmth and contentment of local Taiwanese farmers through Xu Dingye and the numerous articles and photos of Zhuowu Mountain Coffee Farm on the walls. Their resilient and unwavering spirit is infused into the coffee, exuding a simple and unpretentious aroma, representing a sincere and down-to-earth attitude toward life.
