Established in 2004, Xuanshan Lake Mountain Coffeehouse covers an area of three hectares, with 1,800 coffee trees planted in the garden. Its biggest feature is the complete process of coffee production, from harvesting, peeling, washing, drying, hulling, roasting to brewing. The coffee variety was first introduced by the owner from Taitung, planted in Dapu Township, and in 2006 it won an award at the Zengwen Reservoir Coffee Sightseeing Festival coffee tasting competition. The Arabica coffee grown here is medium roasted, with a flavor profile that is not acidic, not astringent, slightly bitter, and has a sweet aftertaste. Its low caffeine content is a characteristic, and in the abundant foggy, warm, and humid climate of the Zengwen Reservoir, organic Taiwanese coffee is born without the use of pesticides.
