Tunabana Ecological Trail Introduction
The Tunabana Trail roughly forms a figure-eight shape. Excluding the industrial road section, it can be divided into the western segment, which passes through the "Sunset Pavilion," and the eastern segment leading to "Water and Fire from the Same Source." Starting from the western end of the trail, one crosses the industrial road and makes a turn between fruit orchards. The trail, paved with wooden steps and rocks, extends upward in a zigzag manner, with mango trees, a significant industry in the area, visible along the way. Upon reaching the Sunset Pavilion, which boasts excellent views, one can overlook the entire settlement. After a short rest, the trail continues upward, entering a large area of secondary forest made up of bamboo and broadleaf trees. The slope becomes gentler in this section, allowing for a leisurely stroll. Along the way, a downhill section features tall "stone oaks" dropping hard fruits that litter the pathway as well as the sides of the trail. Continuing through the bamboo grove leads to the endpoint where the western segment of the trail connects with the industrial road. The other path starting from the northeast leads up wooden steps, traversing through bamboo forests and several farms, arriving at the classic tribal experience called "Fire Taking Legend Experience." The central pond, where high-pressure groundwater and combustible gas emerge from underground, ignites to create the remarkable sight of "Water and Fire from the Same Source." The image of the red-billed blackbird beside it also tells a fascinating ancient myth. This area is also close to the eastern exit of the trail, allowing easy access to "Jiamama Waterfall" to enjoy the refreshing coolness of pure mountain spring water.
