Since the Chiayi County Government transformed the traditional Dongshi Fishing Port into Dongshi Fisherman's Wharf, it has attracted a continuous stream of visitors from all over the province. Right next to the wharf, Huahong Seafood Restaurant is co-managed by owner Hsu Huajie and his two sons, who excel in crafting exquisite dishes. This has led to numerous food enthusiasts spreading the word, and the restaurant has built a reputation over thirteen years, becoming a favorite among gourmets just like the Fisherman's Wharf. Facing Wanggang Fishing Port, which specializes in oyster farming, Huahong Restaurant is different from the Fisherman's Wharf, which primarily focuses on fishing. However, the two places are about a kilometer apart, easily accessible via the seawall road. Huahong Restaurant particularly emphasizes local oysters, preparing uniquely flavored raw oysters, and integrates sightseeing fishing rafts to take visitors to Gānsǎndǐng Islet for a tour of oyster cultivation. Along the way, Captain Wu Linshan provides insightful guidance, making it a characteristic experience of Dongshi fishing village. Huahong Restaurant is renowned for selling wild seafood and is among the local favorites. The owner was once an oyster farmer and, thanks to good relationships with fishermen, not only buys from the Dongshi Fish Market, but also receives special and larger seafood catches like sea bass, red crab, and conch directly from fishermen, guaranteeing that Huahong Restaurant's unique dishes are highly praised by visitors.
