It is highly recommended to take a stroll or hike along the ancient path, as it is not only beneficial for physical and mental health but also allows you to appreciate the varying beauty of the Tiao Tan Ancient Path across different seasons! Those who have visited the "Tiao Tan Ancient Path" will surely remember the striking "Carrying Charcoal Impression Sculpture" at the entrance of Dakeng Ancient Path on Miaoli County Road 48, depicting a charcoal carrier wearing a bamboo hat, dressed in shorts, and smiling while carrying wood charcoal. Those preparing to explore the ancient path should take a moment to appreciate this sculpture, as it conveys the origin and spirit of the Tiao Tan Ancient Path. Fifty years ago, residents of the Fuxing area in Tongxiao established this stone-step path through the rugged mountains to travel to Sanyi for trading necessities and agricultural products. During the Japanese colonial period, the charcoal-making industry flourished in the mountainous areas of Tongxiao and Sanyi, leading to the establishment of many charcoal kilns. The charcoal produced was transported down this path to Sanyi Railway Station for export.
