Ostrich Farm Leisure and Recreation Area Introduction
The "Datuo Family Leisure Farm" was originally established as "Jiaxing Ostrich Farm" in September 1998. The farm is located in Yanpu Township, Pingtung County, focusing on the breeding and raising of ostriches, with 13 breeding pairs that yield over 600 chicks each year. In light of the diversification in the ostrich industry, the farm participated in the Ministry of Education's Excellence Program in 2007 and collaborated with the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism on the "Planning and Experience Marketing Plan for the Ostrich Green Leisure Farm and Culinary Product Design." This transformed the ostrich farm into a leisure farm open on holidays, integrating tourism, recreation, education, and ostrich cuisine. The leisure farm plans to cultivate "fireflies and butterflies," allowing guests to enjoy ostrich delicacies while learning about the growth process of ostriches as well as the ecology of the firefly and butterfly cultivation areas. The farm includes six main areas: a DIY teaching area, a fish watching and water play area, an ostrich cuisine restaurant, a singing and tea-tasting area, an ostrich ecology area, and an eco-friendly farm (decorated with waste tire flower pots). It aims to become the largest ostrich tourism farm in Taiwan.
