Dapo Village Introduction

Kawaliwali, or Dapo Village, is the earliest established Amis tribe village in Chihshang Township. According to records, the Amis people from Hengchun settled here and established the village as early as 1880. Most of the Amis villages in Chihshang Township later branched out from Dapo Village. Dapo Village is located on the right side of Dapo Pond in Chihshang. Kawaliwali means "east" in the Amis language, originally implying that the village is east of Dapo Pond. Dapo Pond is a naturally formed lake between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, with its main water source being the Xinwulu Creek, making it the only inland freshwater marsh in Taiwan.

Address：Dapo, Chishang Township, Taitung County 958

Transportation Methods：By Train: Take the Taiwan Railway and get off at Chishang Station. Walk approximately 250 meters along Zhongzheng Road to reach the Chishang Rice Cultural Story House. After crossing the road, turn right and walk to the next intersection, then turn left and walk about 450 meters to arrive. By Bus: Take the Dongtaiwan Bus No. 8161, 8163, 8165, 8166, or 8173 to Chishang Station. Walk south along Provincial Highway No. 9, then turn left onto Zhongshan Road and walk straight for about 600 meters to reach your destination.

Remarks：1. Please do not disturb the local residents' daily life while visiting. 2. Customs vary in different places; please respect local traditions.
