Dapo Tribe Introduction

Dapo Tribal Village (Kawaliwali) is the earliest established Amis tribe village in Chihshang Township. According to historical records, the Amis tribe from Hengchun settled here and established the village as early as the 1880s. Many of the Amis villages in Chihshang Township later branched out from Dapo Tribal Village. Dapo Tribal Village is located on the right side of Dapo Pond in Chihshang. Kawaliwali means "the east" in Amis, indicating that the village lies to the east of Dapo Pond. Dapo Pond is a naturally formed lake located between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, with its main water source coming from the Hsinwulu River. Dapo Tribe Travel Information

Address：Dapo, Chihshang Township, Taitung County 958, Taiwan

Transportation Methods：By train: Take the Taiwan Railways and get off at Chishang Station. Walk approximately 250 meters along Zhongzheng Road to reach the Chishang Rice Cultural Story House. After crossing the road, turn right, walk to the next intersection, then turn left and walk about 450 meters to arrive. By bus: Take Eastern Taiwan Bus routes 8161, 8163, 8165, 8166, or 8173 and get off at Chishang Station. Walk south along Taiwan Route 9, then turn left onto Zhongshan Road toward Shuixian Alley, and continue straight for about 600 meters to arrive.
