Lao-Lan Tribe Introduction
This is a very unique Paiwan tribe. The tribe originally resided on Xianglan Mountain, but during the Japanese colonial period, they were forced to move down the mountain. After several relocations, they ended up in the current location of New Xianglan, where they live alongside the Amis people. Therefore, every July, the Amis Harvest Festival is held in New Xianglan, as well as the Paiwan Harvest Festival. Not long after entering the Lalauan tribe, you can see the tribe's reception center, which also serves as an important hub for the tribe's industry development – the millet workshop. The Lalauan tribe is dedicated to promoting millet cultivation, and there is a two-acre millet field on the hillside behind the tribe. Recently, with the rise of health-conscious concepts, the benefits of millet have gradually gained attention. In the Lalauan tribe, there is a renowned indigenous writer, Yaronglong Sakanu. His first book, "Wild Boar, Flying Squirrel, Sakanu," uses vivid and interesting language to convey the indigenous people's protection of the environment and respect for nature. 【Source: Tribal Backpackers, Feng Taitung, Tribal Travel Guide】
