Lalaulan Tribal Village Introduction
This is a unique Paiwan tribal village. The village was originally located on Xianglan Mountain but was forced to descend during the Japanese occupation period. After several relocations, it finally settled in the current location of New Xianglan, where it coexists with the Amis people. Therefore, every July, a Harvest Festival of the Paiwan tribe and the Amis' Harvest Festival take place here in New Xianglan. Not long after entering the Lalaulan village, visitors can see the village reception center, which also serves as an important hub for the development of local industries—a millet workshop. The Lalaulan tribe is dedicated to promoting millet farming, with a two-hectare millet field planted on the hillside behind the village. Recently, the concept of wellness has become popular, and the benefits of millet are gradually being recognized. In Lalaulan village, there is a well-known indigenous author, Yalong Long-Sakunu, whose first book, "Mountain Pigs, Flying Squirrels, and Sakunu," uses vivid and engaging language to convey the indigenous peoples' message regarding environmental protection and respect for nature. 【Source: Tribal Backpackers, Taitung: A Guidebook for Tribal Tourism】
