Penghu Aquarium Introduction
The two-story building of the Penghu Aquarium is constructed with gray-white walls and greenish-blue roofs. It is located in Qitou Village, Baisha Township of Penghu. The aquarium was expanded from the original Fisheries Experimental Station. Inside, there are exhibition areas dedicated to coastal ecology, a rock pool, and an ocean pool ecosystem, with the most notable being the 14-meter-long arched underwater tunnel where you can stroll through and admire various marine creatures. Directly across from the aquarium's entrance is a straight wave breakwater extending into the Taiwan Strait. This was originally built by a Japanese pearl farming company as a farm, and the breakwater's unique wave shape attracts many tourists for photos. However, if you want to take pictures in the blue seawater, remember to check the tidal times and choose the right high tide period; otherwise, you’ll only find a wet muddy beach beneath your feet! On the east side of the aquarium, there is a Qitou waterfront park designed using tidal variation, which features an intertidal walking activity area, a circular wading pool, and children's playground facilities, allowing both adults and children to observe intertidal organisms and understand tidal effects—making it an educational and recreational area.
