National Tsing Hua University Introduction
National Tsing Hua University is located at the northern foothills of Shih-san Mountain in Hsinchu City. The campus covers an area of over 80 hectares, with lush trees and green grass, renowned for its picturesque landscapes including Chenggong Lake, Kunming Lake, Meiyuan (Plum Garden), and Meigu (Plum Valley). It is an academic institution rich in cultural atmosphere and tourism value. Chenggong Lake, an artificial lake, has a wide surface with a small bridge leading to a pavilion at the center. The willow trees by the shore sway gently, and occasionally a white heron visits, adding charm to the clear water and green surroundings. Kunming Lake is small yet exquisite, with lotus leaves covering its surface, and opposite is a colorful bougainvillea corridor, which adds to its appeal. Meiyuan, established to commemorate President Mei Yiqi, features over 400 sea trees. Every winter to spring, the garden is adorned with dazzling white plum blossoms, making it a famous sight of Tsing Hua. The new campus, Meigu, is home to the College of Humanities, and Aihua Lake is situated within it. The towering moso bamboo by the lakeside and the herons gliding over the water create a harmonious landscape akin to a traditional Chinese watercolor painting. On November 1, 2016, it merged with National Hsinchu University of Education, retaining the name "National Tsing Hua University," while the former National Hsinchu University is now referred to as "Nanda Campus."
