National Tsing Hua University Introduction
National Tsing Hua University is located at the northern foothills of Shih Eight Peaks in Hsinchu City, covering an area of over 80 hectares, featuring lush greenery and beautiful lawns. It is most famous for its picturesque landscapes including Chenggong Lake, Kunming Lake, Meiyuan (Plum Garden), and Meigu (Plum Valley), making it a place rich in cultural ambiance and touristic value. The artificially excavated Chenggong Lake has a wide surface, with small bridges leading to a pavilion in the center of the lake. The willow trees lining the shore sway gently, occasionally adorned by one or two egrets flying in, adding life and charm to the scene. Kunming Lake is small and exquisite, with a surface dotted with lotus leaves, and on the opposite bank is a bougainvillea trellis filled with vibrant flowers and greenery, creating its own unique charm. The Meiyuan, established in memory of President Mei Yiqi, is planted with over 400 sea trees, and each winter ends with spring bringing a dazzling display of plum blossoms, making it a famous sight at Tsing Hua. The new campus, Meigu, is home to the College of Humanities, with Aisong Lake located within it. The upright bamboo and the low-flying egrets over the lake make Meigu resemble a harmonious landscape painting. On November 1, 2016, it merged with National Hsinchu University of Education, retaining the name "National Tsing Hua University," while the former National Hsinchu University became "Nanda Campus."
