Hsiang Chuang University Introduction
Hsiuan Chuang University, although the youngest university in the Hsinchu area and named after the monk Xuanzang, is devoid of a heavy religious atmosphere despite all campus buildings being named after the religious master's titles. The campus is filled with greenery and vitality. The founder of Hsiuan Chuang University is Elder Liao Zhong, who established the Hsiuan Chuang College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1997 with the belief of "promoting Xuanzang's spirit through education and cultivating talents to benefit society through academia." In 2004, it was upgraded to Hsiuan Chuang University. The location with the most Buddhist ambiance on campus is likely the University History Museum, which displays historical relics from Xuanzang's founding of the school and houses the most precious "treasure of the school," the cranial relic of Master Xuanzang from the Tang Dynasty, a valuable artifact unearthed in Nanjing in 1942.
