Pizitou Botanical Garden Introduction
Pizitou Botanical Garden, located near the Cultural Center, serves four main functions: leisure, recreation, education, and research. Established in 1908 (the 41st year of the Meiji Era), it was originally a site for the production and testing of rubber seedlings alongside the Shan Zaiting Botanical Garden. Unlike Shan Zaiting, which is situated on hilly terrain, Pizitou is located on flat land, with both sites conducting different forestry experiments simultaneously. It later transitioned into a site for tropical and subtropical reforestation trials, evolving over time to become a place for cultivating tree species for reforestation and green landscaping. The botanical garden currently features plant areas including shrubs, vines, fragrant flowers, bamboo, and grass, as well as an urban complex forest landscape area, catering to the public and scholars for leisure, recreation, education, and research.
