Nanxin Food Store Introduction
Founded in 1953, Jia Xiang Wei has been a staple in Chiayi for half a century, offering nutritious and delicious treats made from carefully selected fresh ingredients. It preserves the confectionery skills learned by the founder from Japanese craftsmen during the Japanese colonial period, starting with traditional yokan and extending to steamed buns, snowflake cakes, sweet potatoes, and innovative square pastries. Among them, the nostalgic Nan Xin snowflake cake is made with high-quality butter filling and comes in two flavors: lemon and pineapple. Topped with a layer of powdered sugar, it resembles snowflakes, which is how it got its name. Soft and fluffy, it melts in your mouth, and it can also be enjoyed frozen in the summer, providing a texture similar to ice cream cake. It has been a beloved taste of Chiayi for 60 years.
