Runji Temple Introduction
Runji Temple is one of the more significant temples in the Ankang area and is a historically rich ancient temple. It serves as the religious center for the residents of the Ercheng area in "Ankang Neiwuzhuang," primarily worshiping the "San Guan Da Di," commonly known as "San Jie Gong," with "Jiu Tian Dao Zu" and "Wang Tian Jun" as accompanying deities. In the earlier years, this area was inhabited by the Atayal indigenous people, and the settlers who came to cultivate the land often faced threats. Consequently, the local leaders advocated for the construction of the temple, founded in the first year of the Qing Tongzhi period. Initially built as a thatched house, it underwent renovations and expansions in 1913, 1923, and 1986. Behind the temple is the Runji Temple Trail, a winding wooden path that steeply ascends, with no overhead cover but excellent views, allowing for distant vistas of the ridge line between Tutian Mountain and Huangkux Mountain, or a bird's-eye view of the Toucheng and Ercheng areas.
