Ruanji Temple Introduction
Runji Temple is one of the larger temples in the Ankang area and is a historic ancient temple, serving as the religious center for the residents of the Ercheng area in the "Five Villages of Ankang." It is primarily dedicated to the "Three Officials," commonly referred to as "San Jie Gong," alongside the deities "Jiutian Daozu" and "Wang Tianjun." In its early years, the area was inhabited by the Atayal indigenous people, and the settlers who came to farm often faced threats. In response, local leaders promoted the construction of the temple, which was established in the first year of the Tongzhi era during the Qing Dynasty. Initially, it was a thatched cottage, and it underwent renovations and expansions three times in 1913, 1923, and 1986. Behind the temple is the Runji Temple Trail, which ascends steeply along a wooden boardwalk with no cover but offers excellent views, allowing one to gaze at the ridge line between Tutan Mountain and Huangku Mountain, or to overlook the regions of Toucheng and Ercheng.
