Runji Temple Introduction
Rung Ji Temple is one of the larger temples in the Ankang area, and it is also a historical ancient temple, serving as the religious center for the residents of the Er Cheng area, known as "The Five Villages of Ankang." It primarily enshrines the "San Guan Da Di," commonly known as "San Jie Gong," along with the accompanying deities "Jiu Tian Dao Zu" and "Wang Tian Jun." In the early years, this area was inhabited by the Atayal tribe, and settlers who came to cultivate the land often faced threats. Therefore, local leaders advocated for the construction of a temple, which was founded in the first year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty. Initially, it was built with thatched roofs and underwent renovations and expansions in 1913, 1923, and 1986. Behind the temple is the Rung Ji Temple Trail, which goes left and right, with a wooden walkway that ascends steeply and offers no shade but provides an excellent view, allowing one to overlook the ridge between Tu Tan Mountain and Huang Ku Mountain or gaze down upon the areas of Tou Cheng and Er Cheng.
