Runji Temple Introduction
Runji Temple is one of the larger temples in the Ankang area and a historic ancient temple, serving as the religious center for the residents of the Ercheng region of "Ankang Neiwuzhuang." It primarily enshrines the San Guan Da Di, commonly known as "San Jie Gong," along with the accompanying deities, the Jiu Tian Dao Zu and Wang Tian Jun. In its early days, this area was the living domain of the Atayal indigenous people, and settlers who came here for cultivation often faced threats. Therefore, local leaders promoted the construction of a temple, which was established in the first year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty. Initially built as a thatched structure, it underwent renovations and expansions in 1913, 1923, and 1986. Behind the temple is the Runji Temple Trail, which features a wooden plank path that ascends steeply and is exposed, offering great views of the ridge line stretching from Tutan Mountain to Huangku Mountain, as well as a overlook of the Toucheng and Ercheng area.
