Shui Liu Dong Flamboyant Trail Introduction
The Shui Liutang Tung Flower Trail located in Waipu District is 2.4km long. Formerly known as the Shui Liutang Lover's Path, it was renamed Tung Flower Trail in 2009. Local residents have planted Tung flowers along the irrigation ditch on both sides, creating a snow-like spectacle of petals from April to May each year. Shui Liutang used to be an irrigation channel where water generally flows westward; however, this channel rises from west to east. Elevated, it passes through vineyards and tomato fields, as well as the high-speed rail viewing platform adjacent to the Shui Liutang Tung Flower Trail, which is the closest viewing platform to the high-speed rail. Visitors can watch the fast-moving trains against the backdrop of the schedule displayed, making it suitable for walking or cycling. It is a hidden gem for locals in Waipu. At Yongfeng Village Tung Flower Trail, one can proceed along the irrigation ditch, walking past rice fields and orchards. The channel in the middle bends towards a slope called "Shui Chong Yi," with about a 10-floor drop. When the water flow is high, it rushes down powerfully like a flood, providing a refreshing experience in the summer heat along the trail. Here, it is recommended to slow down, allowing your pace to wander alongside the aromatic countryside, listen to the chirping insects and singing birds, and gaze at the swiftly passing high-speed trains and patchwork of farmland from a quiet corner of the trail. Of course, you can bring food to have a picnic and chat with friends and family in a higher spot, enjoying leisurely moments.
