Dadong Wetland Park Introduction
Dadong Wetland Park (originally named Zhongzheng Park) was established in 1981 and is located opposite the Dadong Cultural and Arts Center. After years of landscaping, the park is lush with trees and has facilities including a senior activity center, resting pavilions, the former National Father Memorial Hall (which was demolished around October 2012), and the Ci'en Library, making it a great place for leisure. Chaitou Pond Ruins: In the Qing Dynasty, there were two places named "pitou" in Fengshan County, namely "Pizaitou," located in the old town of Zuoying, and "Pitou," an old name for the new town of Fengshan. To avoid confusion, the pitou in Fengshan City was renamed "Xiapitou," "Xiapitou Street," or "Pitou Street." The name Pitou in Fengshan City derives from the settlement built near the pond and is located at the head of the pond, hence called "Pitou," and this pond is known as "Chaitou Pond." The circumference of Chaitou Pond in Fengshan is about five miles (approximately 2.5 kilometers), with an area of 34.5 hectares (about 33.3 acres). It is a large pond located to the south of Wuluotang Mountain, with the Dongmen Creek (Fengshan Creek) and Liangou (the inner and outer moats of Fengshan County) flowing to the west. Wuluotang Mountain refers to the low hills near the livestock market in Beimenli, Fengshan City, west of Fengshan Creek, and north of Bo'ai Road. At the intersection of Jingwu Road and Fengren Road, there is a "Beast Spirit Monument," which is a relatively easy landmark to identify in present-day Wuluotang Mountain. Currently, facilities such as the senior activity center, Fengshan Hospital, Fengshan District Office, National Father Memorial Hall (demolished around October 2012), Dadong Hospital, Dadong Elementary School, Dadong Park, and the Ruizhuzhu Community Activity Center east of Fengshan Creek are all part of the Chaitou Pond area.
