Dadong Wetland Park Introduction
Dadong Wetlands Park (originally named Zhongzheng Park) was established in 1981 and is located opposite the Dadong Cultural and Arts Center. After years of greening, the park is lush with trees and includes facilities such as a senior activity center, resting pavilions, and the nearby National Father Memorial Hall (which was demolished around October 2012), as well as the Ci'en Library. It is a great place for leisure. Chaitoupi Ruins: During the Qing Dynasty, there were two places named Pi in Fengshan County, namely "Pizaitou," located in the old city of Zuoying, and the old name of the new Fengshan City, "Pitou." To avoid confusion with the place names, the Pitou in Fengshan City was renamed "Xiapitou," "Xiapitou Street," or "Pitou Street." The name Pitou in Fengshan is due to the settlement being built adjacent to a pond, located at the head of the pond, hence called "Pitou," with this pond being known as "Chaitoupi." The circumference of Chaitoupi in Fengshan is about over five li (approximately 2.5 kilometers), with an area of 34.5 hectares (about 33.3 jou). It is a large pond located on the southern side of Wuluotang Mountain, flowing westward dividing into Dongmen Creek (which is Fengshan Creek) and Liangou (the inner and outer moats of Fengshan County City). Wuluotang Mountain corresponds to the vicinity of the livestock market in Beimenli, Fengshan City, west of Fengshan Creek, and north of Bo’ai Road, which consists of rolling hills. At the intersection of Jingwu Road and Fengren Road stands the "Beast Soul Monument," which is a landmark that is easier to point out in present-day Wuluotang Mountain. Nowadays, the senior activity center, Fengshan Hospital, Fengshan District Office, National Father Memorial Hall (which was demolished around October 2012), Dadong Hospital, Dadong Elementary School, Dadong Park, and the Zuishan Tianxia Building and Ruizhu Community Activity Center east of Fengshan Creek all belong to the Chaitoupi area.
