Hsi Nan Lake Mouth Xiansheng Temple Introduction
Xiansheng Temple, located in a bustling area, has an imposing structure and magnificent halls. The entrance features two antique-style archways. Passing through the archways and standing in the expansive temple courtyard, one can see cement houses on either side, with a stage located between the two archways, used for divine celebrations and entertainment during festivals. In front of the San Chuan Gate, a pair of stone lions stands guard. Climbing up to the porch in front of the San Chuan Hall, the walls on both sides are adorned with intricate stone carvings crafted by dedicated artisans. Stepping over the threshold and entering the San Chuan Hall, it serves as the initial worship space for believers. Looking towards the inner courtyard, the interplay of light and shadow reveals a deeper and more mysterious main hall, exuding solemnity and grandeur. The left hall houses an office, while the right hall enshrines gods such as Yue Fei and Bao Gong, as well as the deity of believers' fortunes. Turning left past the side hall and facing the main hall, one feels the extraordinary splendor and the meticulous arrangements everywhere. The main deity enshrined is the Holy Mother, with the left side dedicated to the Goddess of Birth and the right to the Nine Heavens Xuannu. On the second floor, Avalokitesvara is the primary deity, accompanied by Guan Yu and Confucius, in a simple and unadorned display. The "Xiansheng Temple" holds the ceremony for the Holy Mother's birthday on the 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month each year, organized by worshippers from the four townships within the jurisdiction.
