Zhinan Temple Introduction
The most special feature of Zhinan Temple is that it offers a loan of NT$600 as a fortune-seeking money. Those in need can consult the Earth God and Goddess by tossing divination blocks, and if their request for money is granted, Zhinan Temple will lend them the fortune money. Typically, after their business stabilizes, those who borrowed the fortune money will return more than what they initially borrowed as a token of gratitude to the Earth God. To facilitate the public's request for and return of money, the temple operates this service similar to a bank counter. In addition to seeking fortune money, in recent years Zhinan Temple has also launched activities such as distributing "wealth money" during the New Year holiday, with unique designs each year. During the Lunar New Year period, wealth money is distributed irregularly, drawing long queues of people eager to receive it. Furthermore, on the sixteenth day of the Lunar New Year, the temple holds a free Chicken Wine (Ding Jiu) feast. It is said that early on, women offered castrated chickens in gratitude for newly added family members on the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year, thanking the Earth God of Zhinan Temple for their blessings. The temple collectively processes these offerings, cooking sesame oil chicken to share with the residents, transforming it into an event filled with gratitude and community spirit. To alleviate restroom congestion, the temple invested NT$40 million to build a luxurious restroom shaped like bamboo shoots, named "Golden Bamboo Welcoming Guests," which unexpectedly became a new tourist attraction.
