Zinan Temple Introduction
The most special feature of Zi Nan Temple is that it offers a loan of NT$600 in prosperity money to the public. Those in need can ask for guidance by tossing divination blocks before the Earth God and Earth Goddess, and if their requests for money are fulfilled, the temple will lend them the prosperity money. Usually, once their business stabilizes, those who borrowed the prosperity money will return more than what they borrowed as a token of gratitude to the Earth God. To facilitate the process of seeking and returning money, the temple has set up a bank counter to manage these transactions. In addition to seeking prosperity money, in recent years, Zi Nan Temple has also launched activities such as giving lucky money during the New Year's holiday, with each year featuring a uniquely designed lucky money envelope. During the Lunar New Year period, the temple also occasionally distributes lucky money, attracting long queues of people eager to receive it. Furthermore, on the sixteenth day of the lunar calendar, the temple hosts a free "Ding Jiu" (chicken wine) event. This tradition originated from early women who, in gratitude for a new addition to their family, would bring a castrated chicken to worship at the temple on the fifteenth day of the lunar month to thank the Earth God for blessings. The temple handles these offerings collectively, cooking them into sesame oil chicken for the community to share, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and strong social bonds. To alleviate restroom congestion, the temple has invested NT$40 million to build a luxurious restroom shaped like bamboo shoots, named "Golden Bamboo Welcoming Guests," which has unexpectedly become a new tourist attraction.
