Zinan Temple Introduction
The most special feature of Zinan Temple is that it lends NT$600 as a prosperity fund to the public. Those in need can ask for guidance from the Earth God and Earth Goddess or the Stone God by tossing divination blocks. If their wishes for money are fulfilled, Zinan Temple will lend them the prosperity fund. Typically, after their businesses stabilize, the people who borrowed the prosperity fund return more than they initially borrowed as gratitude to the Earth God. To facilitate the public in seeking and repaying the fund, the temple has set up a banking counter for this service. In addition to seeking the prosperity fund, in recent years, Zinan Temple has also launched activities such as giving out "money mothers" during the New Year's holiday. The design of the prosperity money mothers is unique each year, and during the Lunar New Year, they distribute money mothers at irregular intervals, drawing long queues of people eager to receive them. Furthermore, on the sixteenth day of the Lunar New Year, the temple holds a free chicken wine (Ding Jiu) event. This tradition is said to have started from women in earlier times who, in gratitude for welcoming a new addition to the family, would offer a castrated chicken to express thanks to the Earth God of Zinan Temple on the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year. The temple then processes these offerings and cooks sesame oil chicken to share with the community, turning it into an event filled with gratitude and strong human connections. To alleviate restroom congestion, the temple spared no expense, investing NT$40 million to build a luxurious restroom designed in the shape of bamboo shoots, which unexpectedly became another new tourist attraction.
