Jiji Weir Introduction
The Lanhe Weir is located at the Linwei Gorge in Jiji Township along the middle reaches of the Zhuoshui River, featuring eighteen flood gates. The annual flow of surface water from Zhuoshui River is nearly 5 billion cubic meters, and the area is characterized by extensive alluvial plains along the banks, spanning Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of the agricultural hubs of the province. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Joint Water Diversion Project to improve the existing irrigation water diversion facilities on both sides of the Zhuoshui River, stabilize water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas, and artificially recharge groundwater to alleviate land subsidence. The project will also accommodate the demands of industrial zone development, with a connecting channel established on both the north and south sides, along with four sluice gates and a fish passage. The Jiji Lanhe Weir Management Center was completed and opened in 2002, offering visitors an introduction to water resource ecology, and the building's observation deck provides a scenic view of the Zhuoshui River and the weir.
