Jiji Weir Introduction
The Lann River Weir is located at the Linwei Pass in the midstream of the Zhuoshui River in Jiji Township and features eighteen flood gates. It is designed for the Zhuoshui River's annual surface water runoff of nearly 5 billion cubic meters, surrounded by extensive alluvial plains on both banks, spanning Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of the agricultural heartlands of the region. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Joint Water Diversion Project to improve the existing irrigation water diversion facilities along the banks of the Zhuoshui River, stabilize the water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas, and artificially replenish groundwater, thus mitigating land subsidence. Additionally, to meet industrial development needs, there will be two connecting channels, one on the south and one on the north, four sand sluice gates, and one fishway. The Jiji Lann River Weir Management Center was completed and opened in the 91st year (the year 2002) and provides visitors with information on water resource ecology, while the building's observation deck offers a beautiful view of the Zhuoshui River and the weir.
