Jiji Weir Introduction
The Jiji Weir is located at the Linwei Aikou of the Zhuoshui River in Jiji Township, featuring eighteen flood gates. It manages an annual runoff of nearly 5 billion cubic meters of surface water from the Zhuoshui River, with alluvial plains spread across Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of the agricultural hubs in Taiwan. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Joint Water Diversion Project to improve the existing irrigation and water diversion facilities along both sides of the Zhuoshui River, stabilize water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas, artificially replenish groundwater, and ease land subsidence. It also accommodates the needs of industrial development by establishing one connection channel each to the north and south, four sedimentation gates, and one fishway. The Jiji Weir Management Center was completed and opened in 2002, providing visitors with information about water resource ecology, and the building's observation deck offers a view of the Zhuoshui River and the weir.
