Jiji Weir Introduction
The Lanhe Weir is located at the Linwei Pass of the Zhuoshui River in Jiji Township, featuring eighteen flood gates. It serves nearly 5 billion cubic meters of surface water from the Zhuoshui River annually, with alluvial plains widely distributed on both sides, crossing Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of the agricultural hubs in Taiwan. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Joint Water Diversion Project to improve the irrigation diversion facilities along the banks of the Zhuoshui River, stabilize water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas and artificial recharge of groundwater, mitigate land subsidence, and meet the development needs of industrial zones by establishing one communication channel each to the north and south, four sediment discharge gates, and one fishway. The Lanhe Weir Management Center was completed and opened in 2002, providing visitors with information on water resource ecology, and the observation deck of the building offers beautiful views of the Zhuoshui River and the weir.
