Chijia Weir Introduction
The Lanhe Weir is located at the Linwei Pass in Jiji Township, along the middle reaches of the Zhuoshui River, featuring eighteen flood gates. It manages an annual surface water flow of nearly 5 billion cubic meters from the Zhuoshui River, surrounded by alluvial plains on both banks, and spans Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of the prime agricultural areas in Taiwan. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Common Water Diversion Project to improve the existing irrigation and water diversion facilities along the Zhuoshui River, stabilize water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas, and alleviate land subsidence through artificial groundwater replenishment. To meet the development needs of industrial zones, two linking channels will be established on the north and south sides, along with four sedimentation gates and one fish passage. The Jiji Lanhe Weir Management Center was completed and opened in 2002, providing visitors with information about water resource ecology, and the observation deck in the building offers beautiful views of the Zhuoshui River and the weir.
