Jiji Weir Introduction
The Jiji Weir is located at the Linwei Narrow Pass in the middle reaches of the Zhuoshui River in Jiji Township, featuring eighteen flood gates. The Zhushooi River has an average annual flow of nearly 5 billion cubic meters, and both banks are widely covered with alluvial plains, spanning Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of the agricultural hubs of the region. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Joint Water Diversion Project to improve existing irrigation facilities along the banks of the Zhuoshui River, stabilize water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas, and mitigate land subsidence, while accommodating the development needs of industrial zones with two connecting channels, four sand sluices, and one fish pass set on the north and south sides. The Jiji Weir Management Center was completed and opened in 2002, providing visitors with information on water resource ecology, and the observation deck allows for views of the Zhuoshui River and the weir's scenic beauty.
