Jiji Weir Introduction
The Choshui River Weir, located at the Linwei Slope in Jiji Township, features eighteen flood gates. It manages nearly 5 billion cubic meters of surface water flow from the Choshui River each year, surrounded by alluvial plains across Nantou, Changhua, and Yunlin counties, making it one of Taiwan's agricultural hubs. The government is actively preparing the Jiji Joint Water Diversion Project to improve the existing irrigation and water diversion facilities along the banks of the Choshui River, stabilize water supply, reduce groundwater extraction in coastal areas, and mitigate land subsidence. The project also includes the development of industrial zones, with one communication channel each to the north and south, four sedimentation gates, and one fishway. The Jiji Weir Management Center was completed and opened in 2002, providing visitors with ecological information about water resources. The observation deck in the building offers stunning views of the Choshui River and the weir.
