Homeland Linwei Introduction
My Hometown, Linwei "Hometown Linwei" is one of the new ventures of Brother Chen, the current owner of "Yongfu Hall". Brother Chen mentioned that he had struggled in the mainland for a long time, but looking back, he felt that Taiwan was the place he wanted to work hard in for the long term. After returning to Taiwan, he wondered what he could do, and happened to notice a piece of land filled with weeds, deciding to plant hibiscus. The story of "Hometown Linwei" starts with "Yongfu Hall," which has a history of nearly 170 years and is the oldest building in Jiji Township. When Brother Chen returned to his hometown, memories of his carefree childhood—catching mudfish, fishing for frogs, roasting sweet potatoes, trapping crickets, and catching butterflies—emerged, inspiring the thought of returning home after many years away, and strengthening his belief in starting anew. Close to Nature, Hometown Flavors After learning from various sources, Brother Chen began to try his hand at planting, ensuring that the source of materials was visible and trustworthy, and cultivating organic, pesticide-free hibiscus. He also developed hibiscus pastries, cookies, juice, jams, and more… the "Tears of the Goddess"! In Jiji's "Hometown Linwei," there are also DIY experiences for picking hibiscus flowers, making jams, and pickling products. This ruby jam, referring to the hibiscus, carries a light floral scent from the homegrown hibiscus, which is already quite alluring. The refreshing taste will have you going back for more, and paired with nearby rice crackers, it makes for a simple yet delightful afternoon tea indulgence.
