Jiji Bicycle Path - Green Tunnel Section Introduction
Located between Mingjian Township and Jhijhih Town, the 4.5-kilometer-long Camphor Tree Highway is the famous Jiji Green Tunnel. These camphor trees, planted in 1940, required great care according to local elders' memories; water had to be carried daily from a nearby stream to prevent them from wilting, in order to avoid penalties. Today, these camphor trees flourish, forming a leafy canopy along the pathway, making it a pleasant experience to ride a bicycle through. Especially in the scorching summer, there is no sense of the sun's heat at all, truly embodying the saying "The predecessors planted trees, and the descendants enjoy their shade!" There is a sightseeing railway along the roadside, where a little train passes by slowly, adding to the poetic atmosphere, making it a great spot for many tourists and newlyweds to take photos.
