Jiji Cycling Path - Green Tunnel Section Introduction

Located between Mingjian Township and Jiji Township, the 4.5-kilometer-long Camphor Tree Avenue, famously known as the Jiji Green Tunnel, features camphor trees planted in 1940. According to local elders' memories, great efforts were made to care for these trees, including fetching water from a stream daily to prevent the trees from wilting; otherwise, they would face penalties. Today, these camphor trees stand tall and lush, creating a shaded pathway perfect for leisurely bicycle rides. Especially during the hot summer days, you hardly feel the intense heat of the sun, truly exemplifying the saying, "The ancestors planted trees, and the descendants enjoy the shade!" Alongside the road is a scenic railway where a small train passes slowly, adding a poetic touch, making it a great spot for many tourists and newlyweds to capture memorable photographs.
