Jiji Bike Path - Green Tunnel Section Introduction

Located between Mingjian Township and Jiji Township, the 4.5-kilometer-long Camphor Tree Road is famously known as the Jiji Green Tunnel. These camphor trees, planted in 1940, were tended to with great care, as local elders recall the effort involved in bringing water from the stream daily to prevent the trees from wilting, lest they be fined. Today, these camphor trees are lush and leafy, providing a shaded path that makes for a delightful cycling experience. Especially during the sweltering summer, one hardly feels the scorching heat of the sun—truly embodying the saying, "Those who plant trees enjoy the shade." Alongside the road runs a scenic railway, where a small train passes slowly by, adding to the poetic scenery, making it a delightful spot for many visitors and newlyweds to take photos.
