Jingxin Garden_Songshan Sanatorium Director's Residence Introduction
Songshan Sanatorium was established in 1915 and is the earliest tuberculosis hospital in Taiwan. With the establishment of Songshan Sanatorium, the superintendent's residence was born. The superintendent's residence of Songshan Sanatorium was likely built after the 1922 "Standardization of Government Official Residences" ordinance was issued, which imposed specific regulations for the establishment of high-ranking official residences at that time. Jingxin Garden (the superintendent's residence of Songshan Sanatorium) is a Japanese-style wooden structure. The installation of rain shields, the double-beam structure of the Japanese-style small house, the spatial layout, and the building materials largely showcase the construction techniques of the Japanese colonial period. The indoor umbrella-shaped ceiling and the decorative columns on both sides of the entrance are manifestations of its unique architectural vocabulary, possessing significant cultural asset value.
