Jingxin Garden_Songshan Sanatorium Director's Residence Introduction

Songshan Sanatorium was established in 1915 and is the earliest tuberculosis sanatorium in Taiwan. With the establishment of Songshan Sanatorium, the director's residence was created, which should have been built in 1922 following the promulgation of the "Standardization of Government Residences" by the Governor-General's Office. At that time, the establishment of residences for senior officials was subject to certain specifications. Jingxin Garden (the director's residence of Songshan Sanatorium) is a Japanese-style wooden structure that showcases many aspects of construction techniques from the Japanese colonial period, including the design of the rainproof boards, the double-beam framework of the traditional Japanese-style house, spatial layout, and building materials. Features such as the indoor umbrella-shaped ceiling and the decorative columns flanking the entrance are unique expressions of its cultural heritage value.
