Jingxin Garden_Songshan Sanatorium Director's Quarters Introduction

Songshan Sanatorium was established in 1915 and is the earliest tuberculosis rehabilitation facility in Taiwan. With the establishment of the Songshan Sanatorium, the director's residence was born. The residence was likely built in 1922 following the announcement of the "Standardization of Official Residences of the Governor-General." At that time, the establishment of residences for high-ranking officials had specific regulations. Jingxin Courtyard (Director's Residence of Songshan Sanatorium) is a Japanese-style wooden structure. Most elements, including the installation of rain shields, the traditional small house double-beam roof frame, spatial layout, and building materials, showcase construction techniques from the Japanese colonial period. Notably, the indoor umbrella-shaped ceiling and the decorative columns flanking the entrance are unique cultural expressions, holding significant cultural asset value.
