Taipei Farglory Ocean Park Introduction

The coexistence of the past and present, restructuring spatial patterns - "N24 Taipei Ark" was originally one of the warehouse groups of the Taiwan Power Company, formerly the Matsuyama Factory of the Taiwan Electric Power Company during the Japanese colonial period, and after the war, it served as the Matsuyama Repair Factory of Taiwan Power Company. Initially, the buildings were used as warehouses, thus lacking good lighting and ventilation conditions in their design. After understanding the functional use and characteristics of the buildings, the design team remodeled them with office use as the design target in line with the East District Gateway Project. The warehouse volumes were separated and extended outward to allow more natural light to enter the interior; the high ceiling on the rooftop restructured the office space, expanding the vertical relationships. Introducing new functions to respond to new trends - The design team, based on the concept of community flow, broke the limitations of spatial patterns and planned flexible spaces for offices, discussions, and leisure, allowing users to maintain freedom of interaction and space while working. Additionally, considering that the building itself is a historical structure, the design team preserved the exterior materials and overall usage traces during restoration, while also implementing hardware reinforcements such as steel structure reinforcement and damper walls. The restoration method, which respects the historical context by retaining some of the original appearance, allows us to see the mottled walls and the footprints left by time from various perspectives. Upon ascending to the second floor, entering the office space of the "Blockchain Incubation Center," the design team chose to use damper walls as point structures to address the problems arising from the aging building, while also preserving the beauty of the existing reinforced concrete structure. Following the light and the rotating staircase in the atrium, one arrives at the rooftop area. The angled volume of the atrium on the top floor was designed to allow sufficient light to enter the atrium through side windows, and the form of the volume also corresponds to the "ark" imagery of "N24 Taipei Ark," becoming a representative image of the park's entrance. Extending the context, redefining community space - The design team, through modern observations of community connections, combined with the "N24 Taipei Ark" serving as an office space for the blockchain center, broadened the definition of "community" to encompass "community" interaction, regardless of physical or such relationships. This indeed depicts the future patterns of human interaction and is one of the developmental trends. The core concept, combining design techniques, creates a human-centered architectural space that recreates the charm of the space.
